IS THERE A CONTRADICTION IN THE NUMBER OF JESSE'S SONS?
There is no contradiction in the bible about how many sons Jesse had.
Did you know Jesse, King David's father had 7 sons and two daughters? Eliab, Abinadab, Shimma, Nethaneel, Raddai, Ozem, David. Two daughters Zeruiah and Abigail. At the time of the Israel's fight with the Philistines, the older brothers went to war leaving David the youngest son home to keep the sheep. I looked it up again In the Book of 1 Chronicles 2:13-16 it lists seven sons with David the youngest son. In the book of Samuel the man reading and writing about the number of sons Jesse had says David was the 8th son of Jesse. In looking at that scripture I do not believe there was an eighth son.
As I said before, there is no contradiction in the bible as to the number of Jesse's sons. In 1 Samuel 16:1-13, read for yourselves. The contradiction they are talking about was when Samuel was told to anoint David as the next King. This scripture tells about Jesse's sons filing in front of Samuel. It doesn't say seven sons walked before him, it just lists the names of the sons that walked in front of Samuel. When Samuel asks Jesse is this all of your sons, only six had passed before Samuel. Then Jesse told him about David who was a shepherd attending the sheep. David was the 7th son not the eighth. But I don't think the man understood about the number of sons. There is not a contradiction, David wasn't an eighth son.
