FEAST DAYS OF THE LORD
I am bringing up another subject that I have shared before. It has caused me a lot of heart ache, but I feel the need for someone to give me an explanation on why and how to take part in the feast days, in our day and time.
The Feasts of the Lord, are first mentioned in Leviticus the 23rd chapter. The Book of Leviticus is found in the Old Testament of the Bible, which you christians already know. In verse 2 the Lord spoke to Moses, "Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. In verse 3 the first mentioned is the Sabbath. "Six day shall work be done, but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings. Verse 4 These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. (I have no problem with keeping the Sabbath.) Verse 5 In the 14th day of the first month (Nisan) at even is the Lord's Passover. Verse 6 and on the 15th day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord; seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. (What should be done during the week of unleavened bread?) Verse 7 says the first day you shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work. Verse 8 (is what I cannot see doing in this day and time.) Ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord seven days. (The sacrificial laws were done away with when Christ came as the Lamb and died on the cross in our place.) What do you do those seven days, now days? Verse 10 When ye come into the Land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheave of the first fruits of your harvest unto the priest. (The majority of God's people these days do not have farm land to plant and harvest.) Verse 12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish (We do not own sheep.) of the first year for a burnt offering. (again we no longer are required to do burnt offerings, What is done instead of the burnt offering?) The Scripture goes on to tell the Children of Israel what to do and how to do the burnt and wave offerings. Verse 22 When ye reap the harvest of your land, thy shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of the field when you reap, or gather any gleaning of the harvest. It is to be left for the poor and to the stranger. (What do you do today in place of this?)
Verse 27 On the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: a holy convocation, ... offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord. (We do not give offerings by fire any more) Verse 34 Speak unto the children of Israel (he doesn't tell Moses to speak to the gentiles. There weren't any gentles at this time were there? He is telling Moses to tell the Children of Israel to keep his feasts and do the sacrifices.) Verse 40 speaks of the feast of first fruits. And how the children of Israel should keep the feast and make sacrifices. Verse 41 says it shall be a statute for ever in your generations. (The Children of Israel.) Verse 42 you shall dwell in booths seven days. (Do they build booths today to stay in for seven days? I don't think so.) the verse goes on to say all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths. (We weren't born an Israelite. We were born gentiles.) Verse 43 That your generations (the Israelites) may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booth , when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. Verse 44 and Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord. That last verse to me sums it up. The Lord's feasts were given to the children of Israel in their time and generations. Not for us in this day and time.
No one has ever shown me scriptures in the New Testament where the Christians after Christ's time on earth, were required to keep the Lord's Feasts. They always give me the same scriptures, that do not answer my questions. This is my belief and I am not judging anyone whether they keep the feasts or don't keep the feasts. To me it is a personal choice. But do not judge your fellow Christians for not taking part in the feasts as you do. That is between them and God.
