OBITUARY  
JOANN LORAIN BAUCOM
Born 1932 - Died 2021

Joann Lorain Thomasson Baucom age 88, resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma (formerly of Porter, Oklahoma) went to sleep in the Lord on Saturday afternoon, June 26, 2021 at home in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Joann was born July 17, 1932 in Encinitas, California to Henry Franklin Thomasson and Lillian Gertrude Maple Thomasson.  She married the love of her life, Harlan D. Baucom on June 26, 1950 in Wagoner, Oklahoma.  He proceeded her in death in 2012.  Joann was a devoted homemaker for most of her life, who loved caring for her family.  She enjoyed gardening, watching her grandchildren play sports, and was their biggest fan.

Joann is survived by two sons, Frank Baucom and wife Mary of Porter, Oklahoma, and Eddie Baucom of Porter, Oklahoma; two daughters, Leona Williams and husband Jerry of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Lanette Dale and husband Jerry of Haskell, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joann is preceded in death by her husband, Harlan D. Baucom, her parents Henry Franklin Thomasson and Lillian Gertrude Maple Thomasson; one son, Terry Baucom; five brothers, John Thomasson, Joseph Thomasson, James Thomasson, Jerry Thomasson and Jackie Thomasson. Five sisters: Janie Martin, Jean Meeks, Lucille Ullrich, Judi James, and Josie Dill; two granddaughters Wendy Sampley and Rena Williams.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday July 1, 2021 at Brown Family Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Services celebrating Joann's life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday July 2, 2021 at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma. Reverend Brody Morris officiating. Joann will be laid to rest next to her husband, Harlen at Greenwood Cemetery Porter, Oklahoma. Pallbearers are Matt Williams, Joe Baucom, Keith Baucom, Brian Baucom, Gavin Williams, and Harrison Williams.

THE LIFE OF SAUL/PAUL

            Paul was born a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin.  He was also a Roman Citizen.  He was born in the Roman City of Tarsus.  In those days people had dual names.  Before he was known as apostle Paul, he was known as Saul of Tarsus.  Saul was his Hebrew name, Paul was his Roman name.  As Saul before his conversion he sought out the believers in Jesus.  He would hunt them down, bind them up and take them to Jerusalem to be killed.  Jesus did not change his name at his conversion.            Saul went to the high priest asking for letters to allow him entry into the synagogues at Damascus, so he could hunt down men and women that professed to be believers in Jesus.
