ANDREW CAMARATA

Who is Andrew Camarata?  He is a 36 year old single man, who lives in Saugerties, New York.  He posts videos to YouTube about jobs he has done and the building of his shipping container castle.  He also sells merchandise from an online store.

He was born November 12, 1985 in New York, and currently lives in his hometown of Saugerties, Ulster County, New York.  From what information anyone can find, he has at least one sister.  She is on some of his videos, but he never comments on who the girl is helping him.  Some thought it might be his wife, but the media says he is single.  Most are leaning toward it being his sister.  In one of his videos she has a wedding band on her finger, and the media said his sister recently got married.

He is an American handyman and business owner, who specializes in a property maintenance business and also a rising star on YouTube.  Together with his dad, Andrew owns an excavation business.  He has learned everything that he knows about his field from his beloved dad who served as a role model throughout his entire childhood.  His father Andrew B. Camarata, Sr. is an expert mechanic and craftsman.

Andrew has two Golden Retrievers, Levi and Daisy.  He constantly posts pictures of them on his social media accounts, takes them with him on vacations and even celebrates their birthdays.  In the newer  videos, Daisy is no longer mentioned.  In later videos he gets a new retriever pup named Cody.  Levi died in September of 2021 and there is a video in memory of Levi posted on YouTube.

Andrew was a mail carrier first, but that wasn't his true passion. From a young age Camarta Junior began learning how to fix a wide range of engines and machines, developing a passion for machinery and excavation.  In order to broaden his horizons, Andrew studied computer science.  However, he decided his true calling was the one in which he tries to make his clients' dreams come true -- so he started to pursue his career in outdoor working and excavation.  He loves working with his customers' vision and turning it into reality.

Andrew's career added new dimension, as of 2016 when he had the brilliant idea of actually filming the work they do at their company and started uploading the videos on his YouTube channel.  Some videos he posted goes back 5 years, and includes a video of him and his sister at a young age riding a mini-bike.

His videos are quite different one from another; one day he could post a story about setting up a shipping container, the next one about fixing up excavators or some times completely different as fixing cameras and computers or using a plasma cutter.

Most of his videos have an average of 250,000 to 1 million views, quite impressive for a subject which many might consider less glamorous than what social media usually presents today.  However, Andrew has proved that such a thing is possible if you just present it in an fun, passionate way.  He says he feels that container building are superior to traditional construction, because they are faster, cheaper, and easier to build.

He started building his castle out of shipping containers in 2016.  He built it as he had the money to do it.  He has videoed the process from the beginning when he went on google and made plans on a program of what he wanted his castle to look like.  He had two attempts before he got the final plan.  There are videos of each thing he did on his land, except for preparing the land to put the shipping containers on.  The first video of his endeavor, there is already a small camp trailer on the property, I guess where he lived until he got his castle to the point he had a place to sleep.  He already built a hot tub heated by wood, but later shows him building the walls around the hot tub. He also built a outdoor covered area for get togethers outside.  I guess that is what it is.

The first video I found published on September 26, 2016 entitled "wood fired concrete hot tub".

The second video published on September 26, 2016 entitled "building a bluestone retaining wall".

The third video published on September 26, 2016 "building a blue-stone garden wall and stairs".

The fourth video was published on October 8, 2016 entitled "painting shipping containers" for his castle.  I never saw how many shipping containers he used to start his castle.  My husband and I counted at least seven.

The first published video after stacking the containers shows his finished garage.  The rest of the castle wasn't finished into living space until later.

The fifth video published on October 10, 2016 entitled "dragging shipping containers up a hill".  The video doesn't show him stacking them up on top of each other.

The sixth video was published on October 11, 2016 entitled "standing up a shipping container tower."  Later a video was made about "bracing a rock from falling on his castle."

The seventh video published on ? entitled "Building a Bluestone Entry" (something like that)  He built his front door and put the fixtures on it. Then he decorated the outside entrance with blue stones and added outside lighting.

The eighth video published on December 5, 2016 "building a shipping container castle". He gave a tour of the inside of the living area, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

The ninth video published on May 30, 2017 entitled "building a shipping container castle tower."

The tenth video on his property was published on July 30, 2017 entitled "building a concrete hot tub grotto."

There are many other videos posted on YouTube about what he is doing on his land and jobs he has done in the past.  Videos of him pouring concrete floors on the second story of his castle, putting up the concrete block tarrant walls. Putting up steel rafters on the roof, and putting on the sheets of steel for the roof.  One video was of him and a young woman putting up the sheets of steel for the outside walls on the second story, putting the glass in all the window areas.  He has two videos on him building his winding staircase and the hanging of a very heavy chandelier, which he had built. He also has videos on shoring up the container walls with steel beams set in concrete.  He used steel beams to build his castle roof because it makes the castle more fireproof.

He has a few videos on Levi's birthdays, and one or two of Cody's. He has a video in memory of Levi who passed away in September of 2021.

As of November 25, 2025 Andrew will be 40 years old.
