INTRODUCING GOD...IN THE FLESH JESUS
I am sharing a post from The Rest of God's Ministries, written by William C. Hicks. Bill Hicks was the Director of the General Conference Missions Department for many years. The full title is, "Introducing God...in the flesh Jesus, in the Gospel of John 2: "John the Baptist".
Primary study series, "The Gospel of John". The book was actually written anonymously. John did not sign his name to it, but by the content and historical evidence, we know that Apostle John was the human agent of the Holy Spirit for this book. From a past series that we covered is the fact that the Gospel of John actually takes us back BEFORE the beginning in Genesis.
We know, for a fact, we have the Bible because of God's miraculous provision. The CREATOR, GOD, knew that we would need MORE than just words printed on something or even written with the finger of God in stone, to save us. So, God planned to do something that only GOD could do. God in the flesh (Jesus) is the subject of the Gospel of John. In college, I was taught the interesting perspectives of the four different gospels.
* Matthew - Jesus as a King
* Mark - Jesus as the Servant
* Luke - Jesus the Man
* John - Jesus, God in the flesh
The member of the "Godhead" through whom our Father GOD brought the universe into being would add humanity to HIS deity.
HE is never less than GOD! God would send us HIS OWN being "written in the flesh". The member of the Godhead through whom all creation came into being, did not become LESS than God in doing this, but added our material reality to HIS own DIVINE being. As such, HE would represent God's plan to be the LAST ADAM", a being that is BOTH God and flesh (Jesus). I offer you a profound teaching by the Apostle Paul in I Corinthians 15:45-50.
I Corinthians 15:45-57; Bill shares I Corinthians 15:45 - And so it is written, The first man, ADAM was made a living soul; the Last ADAM was made a quicken Spirit. Verse 47 - The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord (Jesus) from heaven. Verse 49 - And we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Verse 50 - Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood "cannot" inherit the Kingdom of God;... Verse 51 - Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed. Verse 54b - it is written DEATH is swallowed up in victory. Verse 56 - The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. Verse 57 - But thanks be to GOD which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (life).
I (Connie) believe Christ is Christ not God, but a part of God. God is not a name but a title. Christ said, "If you have seen me, you have seen my Father". What I am not sure of is God becoming flesh through Jesus Christ and dying on the cross. If it was God in the flesh, on the cross, who was Jesus talking to as he hung on the cross? I have thought about this many times, and I still just don't see God as Christ in the flesh. I don't see God dying on the cross. God cannot die. He is a SPIRIT.
Please think on these things. Pray on these things. Study for yourselves.
