GOD'S REMINDER NOT TO KILL US!

Hello fellow bloggers, I want to share an article by someone which I found quite interesting.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

A New Beginning and a
Promise from God in a Rainbow

by Pastor Bill Hicks

With all the chaos and evil in our world the book of Genesis gives us the facts from God on just how we got into this mess to begin with!  I recently enjoyed a presentation from Ken Ham at a school in Johnson City, TN.  I hope to share his resources as I go on with this article. (my paraphrase)

Looking at our world today will help us to become more familiar of the Holy Bible's teaching on how we come to be where we are today.

Why did God give us the book of Genesis?  It is a historical narrative provided by God concerning the origins of everything in the spiritual universe.  The facts of the past determines our future.

Was it to give us a minute detail so that we could know the exact process and time it took to bring all of this into being?  God's narrative clearly reveals, that He is not detached from what he has made but is engaged as necessary to bring about His end result in His time.

Could it be that the Genesis account was given so that we might learn something important about our God and his character that is even more important than the details of the process He used to bring all of this about? It is the way He works and we had best not forget it since He took the time to tell us about it and keep His promises from the beginning of Genesis.

The human saga now continues based upon God's covenant with Noah, which God carefully preserved despite the rapid decay into sin once more. God first used the word "covenant" in Genesis 6:18 with Noah even though the concept of contractual responsibility was implicit from the beginning of the Creator dealing with His creation. Now the covenant making God will make certain promises to all of Mankind. The Flood was not an easy ordeal for God to undertake as was the cost He knew He would pay for this experience.  Peter helps us to see a reality that we must remember.  Every event in Creation echoed the fact of what God knew would be the solution for our need.  As we consider God's preparation for judgment, perhaps we can better understand why God will have to give himself a reminder NOT to drown all of creation at one time again.

He says in 1 Peter 1:19-21 (KJV) 19 - But with the precious blood of Christ as a lamb without blemish or without spot: 20 - Who verily was fore-ordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,  21 - Who by Him believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Now consider the Flood judgment that brought the rest to the earth.  We learn that our sinful nature makes us more responsible after the flood.  Now discover why our world is the way it is: read for yourselves the following passages of scripture:

 1.  Before the Beginning - Genesis 1
 2.  The Image of God - Genesis 2
 3.  The Fall - Genesis 3
 4.  Cain kills Abel - Genesis 4 corrected
 5.  The Adam Family Tree - Genesis 5
 6.  Preparing for Judgment - Genesis 6
 7.  New studies - The Earth Rests
 8. The New Beginning

A new study that was delivered by Pastor Hicks to his little flock in Southern Tennessee: God's promises; "I WILL!"
... this teaching reminds us that God alone promises and can secure our sure salvation!

Please continue to Pray for our Heavenly Father's continued blessings. We pray Jesus comes soon!  We also pray for those in National Leadership that need our prayer and protection especially after the terrible failure of our election in 2020!  GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS!  May God richly bless you as you continue to seek and to serve Him.  God bless you and give you rest in Christ!  We covet your prayers.... I remain yours,

Pastor Bill Hicks
