SERMON FEBRUARY 20, 2021

Hello fellow bloggers and followers.  Another Sabbath has gone by and we didn't make it to Church today because of bad roads.

I am going to share part of Brother Bud Ullrich's Saturday Sermon.  He is the pastor of our Tahlequah Church of God (Seventh Day) in the state of Oklahoma and my husband's cousin.

The title of his sermon was Heart, Peace, Speech. He made the comment that the epistles were letters. I had never thought of them as such. A good point to make.
He read Jame 13:10-16 and said to take the verses and apply them to your life. Don't lie to yourselves. Filter your hearts and minds.
He asked the question how does our filter work? Do we have a filter? That which comes from above is first pure, then peaceful and then gentle. We must take the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ into our hearts. We shouldn't over think things. One verse says, Rejoice in the Lord Always, and again I say rejoice. Take everything true into our hearts and minds and always have Thanksgiving in our hearts.
He also read in James chapter 4. I didn't get the verses. Divisions among our brothers and sisters comes from wars and fighting among ourselves. God will bring us peace. If you make assumptions about people and what they are doing or saying, many times it is not the truth.
Have pure and true thoughts. We are our own worst enemies.
We are sanctified by the blood of Christ.
Verse 3 - When you pray for something amiss, you won't receive what you ask for.
Verse 4: Friendships with the World makes us enemies of God.
You cannot be friends both the World and God. He gives us more praise and blessings than the world.
In verse 5 it calls us adulterers and adulteresses. It says resist the devil and he will flee from you. You need to turn your joy of the world to mourning and turn back to God. Your bad acts can cause the loss of joy.
Verse 10 - humble yourselves in the eyes of the Lord.
Verse 11 - Speak no evil one of another. This means speak no evil of our brothers and sisters as there is only one judge. And that definitely isn't us.
Speech - the talk and speech is usually all the same with each family member. Because of what you hear said around you.
How do you speak about people in your home to your children?
If you speak bad things and use bad words about the people around you and who you worship with, your children will have those same things to say about the same people.
If you speak only kinds words about those around you, then your children will speak the same.
Be careful how you talk about your brothers and sisters at home around your children.
How do you speak about other people in your home?
We need to teach our children to speak only good things about our brothers and sisters. If all we have is negative thoughts, then our children are going to have negative thoughts about others. This can cause divisions in the church (family of God.)
As Bud mentioned before, humble yourselves in the site of the Lord.
There is only one Law giver, that is God.
People can only be called to Jesus Christ by God. Not by you. You can spread the news and tell them about God, but he is the one that draws them.
James 2:8 - If you fulfill the law in scripture to love your neighbor as yourself and turn from evil, God will take you back. It is never to late to turn back to God and ask for forgiveness. Tell the devil to leave and never return.

That was one of my biggest faults when my children were still at home. Talking bad about even my loved ones. I would get hurt and upset. What I should have done was pray and keep the thoughts to myself. It is to late to change that now. We can never go back and change the past. We need to move forward and make a better future.
