HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year!!!  May God bless you throughout this year as he has me throughout this past year.  Not that the year was that great.  We have had many challenges this year.  Some good, some not so good.  We are truly blessed every day we wake up to see another day.  I know people who really get down in the dumps, when their bday comes.  Getting a year older hasn't bothered me much over the years.  I praise God and say, Thank you God for another year of life.  Just remember God made us for his pleasure.

I also want to share here on my blog a poem written by Elder Joe Corrales of San Antonio, Texas.  (A little tidbit that probably most of you already know.  I met Joe's wife Martha and her sister Rebecca Espinoza at Youth Camp.  I think it was at Robber's Cave State Park at Wilburton, Oklahoma. If I remember correctly Youth Camp was there for two years, 1965 and 1966.  I was baptized at the camp there, June 1966.  Elder Hugh Butrick baptized me.)  I wrote to both of the girls for years.  But as we all started our families and lived so far away, we didn't see or hear from each other much.  Then Rebecca and her husband Steven Zuraff moved to Oklahoma.  That was a very good year, as I see Rebecca from time to time.)

             "Another Year"

Another year came to a close,
and where it went, nobody knows,
but in it's fading afterglow,
we find time can't be controlled.

But here at last a brand new year,
Will it bring laughter or a fear?
And will we meet our greatest fear?
Or will we find God drawing near?

Another year has come and gone,
some battles lost and some battles won,
before it all is said and done,
We know that time keeps marching on.

But as we reach this year of hope,
will we climb life's slippery slope?
Will our life ebb or will it flow,
and pray that God will help us cope?

Another year has slipped away,
it came and went at quite a pace.
It left it's mark upon each face.
What time will take , we can't replace.

And so we start a year once more,
We cannot wait for what's in store.
We shall not fear life as before,
we"ll walk with God upon life's shore.

J. Corrales,  January 2021

This is a beautiful poem.  Joe is quite a writer.  I enjoy reading his poems.  I hope you will also.

May God continue to Bless and keep you.
