Friday November 9, 2018

This is Friday the last work day of the week for most people.  My husband usually has Saturday and Sunday off.  He chose to work this coming Sunday.  That works out great for us, as we worship God on the Seventh Day Sabbath (Saturday), compared to most of the world who worship on Sunday the man made Sabbath.

In the first book of the bible, Genesis, starts with the Creation of the earth, sea, sky and lights of the heavens, all creatures on the earth and in the waters, as well as the first man and woman, Adam and Eve.  God created everything in six days.  That is when the weekly cycle began and has never been changed by God.  Genesis 2:1-4  1 "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the "seventh" day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the "seventh" day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the "seventh" day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made, 4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,"

Genesis 2:5b-10:  5 ...for the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. 7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. 8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the middle of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became into four heads.

After creating all things in six days, God rested on the seventh day from all his work.  He gave to his people many commandments, but in Exodus 20:3-17 there are ten listed that he wanted his people to live by. People of theology and Christians today call them the Ten Commandments.  They were never called that by God. Getting back to the subject of the seventh day (Saturday) sabbath read verses 8-11.  These verses God tells the people to remember:  8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shall you labor, and do all your work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Many try to say these laws (commandments) were nailed to cross when Christ died.  Where are the scriptures in the Old Testament that says when Christ would be nailed to the cross those ten commandments would not longer be in affect?  Where in the New Testament are the scriptures that teaches us they were destroyed when Christ came?  You will not find any such scriptures any where in the true word of God.  Christ himself said "I come not destroy the law, but to fulfill."  He also said, "I come not to do my will, but the will of my father."

That is my comments on scriptures for today.  I want to move on to something else.  Brother Charles Tyrell has been suffering for a few years an infection in his legs mostly.  It is very painful and he has had to be hospitalized a few times to get it cleaned out.  He has been diagnosed with a disease, that I cannot recall the name of right now.  It has gotten so bad they are going to have to remove his big toe of his right foot.  Two weeks ago we had our October Super Sabbath at the Dover Campgrounds.  He had went to his travel trailer to go to sleep and turned on the electric heater to keep warm.  He had that same foot to close to the heater and fell asleep.  He suffered 3rd degree burns on his foot.  He had to go to the ER to get it checked out and wrapped.  This was while waiting for a scheduled appointment to his heart doctor to make sure his heart was strong enough for the surgery he needed to have.  Him and his wife couldn't understand why that was necessary since he hadn't seen him in years.  Very good move on the other doctor's part.  The heart doctor found out he had a heart attack and didn't even know it.  He had to have surgery and have three stints put in. The surgery went well, and from what I gather he is home now resting and healing.  Praise God for his many blessings over Charles. I pray for a quick recovery.

Brother Bob Cowan had to go in for surgery today Friday November 9 at Hillcrest Hospital, Claremore.  It was out patient surgery.  They took him back for prep at about 7:24 a.m.  I went to the hospital to sit with his wife to keep her company.  I know what it is like to sit with someone in the hospital for hours.  Her parents was with her until he was out of surgery.  I got there about 11:30 and he was in recovery and they were getting ready to release him to go home.  Everything went smooth.  Praise God for his wonderful blessings over Bob.  I am praying for no complications after getting home and a quick recovery.  He plans to be at church tomorrow.  Very few restrictions.

I think I mentioned this before, the Women's Club is having a women's bible study of six sessions.  It started in October and will go on until the last session on December 14. (my birthday).  I bought a book and was going to attend.  I totally forgot about the first session and did not make it.  I attended the second, although it seemed the devil was trying to keep me away.  Tonight is the next session, and I will not be attending this one.  I went to Claremore earlier today and did not want to make two trips in one day.  Maybe there is a reason I am having trouble attending all the sessions.  I will be praying God's will be done.

The local Church's Annual Thanksgiving Dinner is tomorrow evening Saturday, November 10 at 6:00 p.m.  We are not able to have it at our local church, because of the renovations being done to our dinning hall.  We are having it at the Justus-Tiawah School Gym in Tiawah.  This is the place we rent for our gym night socials in the winter time.  Since it is going to be a dinner and more formal than a gym night.  They are taking tables and chairs from our church dinning hall to the gym to use.  We usually have a variety program after dinner.  This year it is going to be different.  Our Pastor is going to say a few words after dinner as the program.  I was all set to read some facts about the first thanksgiving and the pilgrims and tell when Thanksgiving was first celebrated in the United States.  We are the only country to have it as a National Holiday.  It is set for the fourth Thursday of the month of November.  It began officially being celebrated on the last Thursday of the month, but some years there are five Thursdays in November.  Setting it the fourth Thursday of November takes care of that problem.

As I mentioned in the last paragraph, we have been having our dinning hall renovated.  The main thing to be addressed was the floor.  That part of the project has been completed by the crew that was hired to fix the floor.  Since some of the paneling and sheet rock was going to have to be taken off for the repairs to the floor, the local board decided to take the paneling down and remove the sheet rock.  Since we could do that ourselves and save some money, the local board decided the local board and volunteers could do a lot of the demolition. So far the only ones working on the dinning hall is Bob Cowan, my husband Rick and I.  Bob took up the old floor down to the floor joists and piers, and hauled all the trash.   He took all the paneling off the walls and the sheet rock and hauled all the trash off except for the last little bit of the sheet rock.  Rick and I went last Sunday and insulated the wall on one side and started the other side. Bob came a little later and cut the insulation for us and laid it out on the floor.  New windows will be put in and the old siding taken off and new put on.   I went by today to see if anyone had finished insulating the walls.  The hired crew (2 men) were tearing off the old siding.  I was a little surprised they were back already starting on the siding project.  After seeing them there I didn't even look in to see what had been done on the inside.  Bob said he was up there Monday and no one had touched the insulation project.  Rick is off work Monday and he says we will go up and finish insulating the walls.  One board member is having to work on Sunday, but I do not know why no one else is showing up for work.
