Monday's Journal Entry

Monday October 1, 2018.  Hard to believe it is already the first of October.  Today is my friend Connie Lynn Johnston Torres's birthday.  Connie1 as I call her.  I have already wished her a Happy Birthday on Face Book and now I would like to make it in my journal entry.  You are probably wondering why I said Connie1.  I am sure I have shared this story before, but I would like to share it again:  I call her Connie1 because she is a little order than me.  I met through an email back in 2005.  (I don't know why but I keep thinking it was about 2003 or 2004.)  I hadn't heard of face book at that time.  I had just started using email.  One day I checked my mail and found one from a Connie Lynn Johnston.  This woman named Connie said she did a search on the internet to see how many other Connie Lynn Johnstons she could find.  My name and email address was listed in her search.  So she sent me an email and introduced herself.  Come to find out we have a few things in common.  The last name Johnston is her married name.  Mine is my maiden name.  We were both born in 1952.  Her October 1st and me December the 14th.  I belong to the Church of God (Seventh Day) which worships on Saturday.  Her best friend growing up attended a Seventh Day Adventist church which worshiped on Saturday.  We have never met in person.  It would be nice if we could one day.  She had met another friend through email.  They had never met face to face.  They had talked about how nice it would be to meet sometime.  Both couples took a cruise.  Neither one mentioned to the other about taking a cruse.  On Connie's cruse she met this couple and they got to visiting and talking about where they were from.  Come to find out it was her email friend.

Back in 2013 I received a flyer in the mail from a place called Hearing Life.  In the flyer they were offering a free hearing test and a % off hearing aids.  I had been having problems understanding people who weren't in the same room with me.  I could hear, but didn't catch what they were saying.  My family was so tired of repeating things to me and said you need hearing aids.  I couldn't afford to pay for a hearing test.  So I called the number and set up an appointment.  The test showed I did have a slight hearing loss.  Both ears tested about the same.  It wasn't bad, but they wanted to get me into hearing aids to keep the loss from getting worse.  The Sonic hearing aids are very expensive.  I have been wearing hearing aids for 5 years now.  I have never gotten used to wearing them daily as I should. I got a call about two weeks ago to come in for a hearing test to see if there had been any change  in my hearing.  I informed her that I don't wear my aids daily.  She wanted me to try to wear them every day for a week and then come in for a test.  I accomplished that goal and she called me Friday and set up an appoint for the hearing test today Monday October 1.  The test showed my hearing is still about the same in both ears.  Hearing aids have been improved so much in the last few years,  but so much more expensive.  The ones I tried on  today are the top of the line.  They made my hearing so much clearer.  No way I can afford those. I am sure I could go to a discount place and get cheaper ones, and I would get cheaper quality.  The specialist said there was a cheaper set she will order and have me come in next Monday to try them out.

We have been having fall weather.  The weather seemed to change over night.  It has been over two weeks since we have had the air on.  It gets a little warm in the house up in the day.  The nights have been cool enough for us to get a restful nights sleep.

Catch you another day,
*Starlight*
