Cousin's Accident/COG7 Ministerial Council
On Friday September 21, 2018, my cousin Jeanette Hinds Cowan was in a five car accident on Route 66 in Catoosa, Ok. on her way to work. There was a car stopped at a red light and Jeanette stopped behind that car. She looked up in her mirror and saw another car coming up behind her and could tell the person wasn't slowing down to stop. The car was doing about 40 miles per hour. It plowed into the back of Jeanette's van damaging the back and knocked her into the car in front of her that was stopped. It totaled the front end of the van. They had just gotten the used van about a month ago. With the woman plowing into the back of the van, two more cars hit in a row. It had been raining all day and the roads were very slick and not safe to be driving on, unless you were fully alert. She is very sore especially in her chest. I don't know if that was from the air bag or she hit the stirring wheel. Praise God she wasn't hospitalized. She was able to attend church Sabbath. I praise God for keeping her safe and pray she heals real soon.
This past week was the North America and Canada Ministerial Council in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This council comes together to discuss the doctrines of The Churches of God (Seventh Day) with headquarters in Denver, Colorado. There is also an International Ministerial Council that comes together for the world wide General Conferences of the church. Each country has its own General Conference, which includes a Board of Directors, but are under the umbrella of the General Conference of the Church in Denver, Colorado. These ministerial councils are very important to the church, as proposed changes are brought before the council of the licensed ministers world wide, studied, and then come together and discuss the changes to the doctrines of the church to make sure the majority agrees that the doctrines are true to the best of their knowledge, prayed over for direction from the Holy Spirit, and according to God's Holy Word. Elder Hugh Butrick had to leave the council meeting because of the death of his wife, Lucille. It was very sad to hear of her passing. Elder Butrick baptized me at Youth Camp in 1966. Please remember the family in your prayers for peace and comfort.
