Connie's Shoulder
As most of you know, I had a bicycle wreck back in July and messed up my left shoulder. I messed it up pretty good. Instead of going to a medical doctor, like I probably should have, I went to two chiropractors, hoping they would take x-rays before giving me adjustments. Most chiropractors had begun doing this a few years back.
Since neither one took x-rays, I decided to get one done on my left shoulder myself. I thought all you had to do to get an x-ray done was make an appointment with a hospital or imaging facility. I called up the local hospital on Thursday or Friday of that week and told the person on the phone I wanted to set up an appointment for an x-ray on my left shoulder. I was then told I didn't have to make an appointment, but I did have to have a referral from a doctor. Wow. I called up my doctor to get a referral and his office informed me, I had to come in and see him before he would give me a referral. All of this plus the cost of the doctor's visit just to get x-rays.
I was able to get a doctor's appointment on Monday the 20th of August. My doctor checked out my arm and shoulder. He said the first step would be x-rays. He said he was concerned that I might have rotator cuff damage and that the x-ray would not show damage to my shoulder. I had the x-rays done right after my appointment with my doctor. The technician didn't find any problems. I was then scheduled for a MRI on Wednesday September 5, 2018. All went well and I got it done. Now I am waiting for the results from the MRI.
My shoulder continues to be painful and muscles still sore. I cannot use that side for very long without pain. I have to sleep on my back at night, which is not a restful way for me to sleep. I have been sleeping mostly on my back for quite some time now, even though I am usually a side sleeper, because of my cancer surgery on my left side. Please continue to keep me in your prayers.
I am still struggling with getting used to sleeping with my CPAP Machine and head gear. I do not like having to sleep with all that stuff on my head. I now have an indention in the top of my head where the headgear strap goes across. I am also having issues with my cushions, staying sealed to my face and not letting air out. Some times I can only stand the headgear and mask for about 4 hours. I need to keep using it nightly for at least 4 hours a night. 5 hours better and up to 8 hours even better. I have never been able to stay with my mask on much past 4 hours. This is for Medicare Insurance to pay most of the rental fee for the monitor, tubing, reservoir tank and supplies. It is sad that it has came to the point that the insurance companies decide what surgery and when to have your surgeries. They have no clue what is needed when.
That is all for now. Stay tuned for more updates on my cancer journey and my shoulder problems. Have a great day.
God Bless
