LAWRENCE EDDY 1937 TO 2018

I am writing today of a sad moment for the family, church family and friends of the late Lawrence Eddy:  He passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at his home with his wife Sue beside him. He was 81 years old.

He was born on May 4, 1937 in Tiawah, Oklahoma to Dewey and Mavis Eddy.  He is the only boy and next to the youngest child.  He grew up on the family farm, about 9 miles south of Claremore, Oklahoma.  He attended grade school in Tiawah and the remainder of the years in Inola, graduating from Inola High School in 1955.
Lawrence married Betty Brunson in 1957 and they were blessed with two children:  Margaret and Max.  He worked as a brick mason and in construction, later forming his own company, Eddy Construction.  He with the help of his crew built his own home.  He served on the Rogers County Board of Adjustments for several years.
He was a devoted member of the Church of God (Seventh Day).  He and his wife Sue attended the local Church of God (Seventh Day) in Claremore, Oklahoma.  He served in many roles within the church:  Sabbath School Teacher, local Church Board member as well as serving on the Oklahoma Conference Board and the District Board of the church. He even spoke a time or two in the absence of a minister in the pulpit on Sabbath to his local congregation.  He spent many many hours, along with others, working on and improving his beloved church camp, The Dover Camp Grounds outside of Dover, Oklahoma.  He spent many hours with the sick and sharing Biblical teachings with others.  His creed was God first, family second, third service to his community and family and friends.
In his free time, he enjoyed rebuilding a couple of old cars and wood working.  His vacations were spent visiting friends and family across the country as well as camp meetings at the Dover Campgrounds, and General Conference Conventions of the Church of God (Seventh Day).  In later years he enjoyed traveling with his RV group the Four Season Good Sam Club and having fun.
On October 14, 2006 he married Betty "Sue" St. Clair and gained three more children,  Aaron, Angie and Lori.  He took them to his heart as his own.  He also gained a few more grandchildren.  Him and Sue made their home in Tiawah, Oklahoma where she remains.
He is preceded in death by his son Max and his parents Dewey and Mavis Eddy.  He is survived by his wife Betty "Sue" of the home, children Margaret, Aaron, Angie and Lori.  19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.  Also his sisters Twila Graves of California, Jeanie Whorton, Judy Jones of Oklahoma, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
His service was held at the Claremore Assembly of God Church, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m. August 27, 2018.  Officiating were Elder Barry Mauldin, his local pastor, Elder Gerson Gonzalez, asst. pastor of his local church, and Elder Chip Hinds a friend and relative.  The soloist was Brother Bob Cowan a long time brother in Christ and friend.  Bob's wife Jeanette Hinds Cowan accompanied him on the piano.  The Pallbearers were:  Clarence Ullrich brother in Christ and long time friend, Mike Mauldin brother in Christ and long time friend, Russ Judd family, Jonathan Hall grandson, John Jones nephew and Wes Eddy grandson. There was a graveside service officiated by Elder Gerson Gonzalez followed by burial at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Claremore, Oklahoma.

I have known Lawrence since I was about four years old when he became a member of the church, Church of God (Seventh Day) and married Betty Brunson, daughter of the late "Tobe" A.K. Brunson and wife Minnie Duncan Brunson.  I grew up in the church along with his two children, Margaret and Max.  I am sort of a relative by marriage and definitely a family member in Christ.  Lawrence will be greatly missed.
