"IS WAR SIN? " My comments

I want to thank Steven for sharing this. It has helped me. Should we serve in the Military? Should women serve as soldiers? In the Bibe one woman went into battle. Steven says that there is evidence in Scripture that we Christians (does this mean men and women?) in our immortality will fight with Him against His enemies. (Zach. 14; Rev. 5:10; 20:1-5; 1 Cor. 15:24)

My brother was drafted and went for a physical with the Army. He took the physical and failed. A heart murmur was detected. He was classed where he wouldn't be called into duty unless it was a national emergency. To me that was a miracle. God took the decision out of my brother's hands. He was still confused on whether he should serve or not. What made this an even more powerful miracle, two weeks before the Army Physical, his company had him take a physical. It was more thorough than the Army's. He passed that one fine. In just 2 weeks a heart murmur appeared. Wouldn't you consider that in itself a miracle?

I believe there is a time and place for everthing. I have always wandered about the wars that were fought in Bible times, with God sending his people into battle. If joining the military and fighting in wars is so sinful, why did God send his people into battle?

My grandpa, who was a minister, always taught against people volunteering to serve in the military, but if they were called, he always felt they should be non-combatants. I never thought to asked him how he felt about men joining and being non-combatants. I never thought to ask him, if he believed it was okay for a woman to join the service as soldiers. Those thoughts never entered my mind. I knew in the past wars, women had served as nurses and office help. They were non-combatant. I am not sure you could even do that, then. He always said that at Christ's second coming during the battle of Armegeddon, he would be fighting right beside Christ.

I believe as Steven does, there is a difference between killing and murder. One question I didn't feel was answered was the one about capital punishment. In the Bible God commanded the children of Israel to kill people who broke the law. In the Bible, if these offenders were able to make it to a city of refuge (cities God set apart for this matter) before being captured or killed, then their lives would be spared. The authorities that were chasing them, could not go into these cities of refuge and get the offender. To me this shows capital punishment is killing and is very different from murder. The people had to be controlled.

I pray this has helped someone out there. I want to thank Brother Steven again for sharing this. I hope he doesn't mind me using it on my blog. He said anyone could copy and paste it to an email. This is about the same thing. If this wasn't what was meant, please let me know.

God Bless
