SNOWY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!!!

I shouldn't be surprised, but I was. Today is March 20, 2010. My mom's 78th birthday and the offical first day of Spring. We have had quite a bit of snow this winter, here in Oklahoma. More than usual. We had a blizzard for the first time in many years.

The weather people started forecasting snow by the end of the week. That's not surprising since we have had one last snow in March before. I was telling everyone not to get to excited about the warmer weather we had been having. I warned them of past years when we have had one last snow in March. We even had snow the first part of April one year. No one seemed to want to believe me. I was a little skeptical myself, but this year the weather people have been pretty much on track with what happens in the weather. Last night it began to rain. I got up this morning to get ready for church. I looked out and saw it had been raining, but it didn't look icy. By the time I got out to the pick up and started to leave, there was ice on the windows and sleet mixed with the rain.

I was already not feeling well. Last night in getting ready for bed, I hit my forehead on the corner of the entertainment center in our bedroom. I have done this once before, but not as bad as this time. At first I could feel an indention in my head. Then a knot started coming up. I looked in the mirror and it didn't look so good. It had hurt some last night before I went to bed, so I stayed up about an hour before going to sleep. When I woke up this morning, it was sore but I didn't pass out. Got ready to go to church, opened the door to leave and got a surprise. It wasn't just raining, it was sleeting also. I almost didn't even head for church, but it was my mom's birthday and I wanted to take her a gift. So I said to myself, start to Claremore and if it gets worse I will turn around and come home. The closer I got to Claremore it began to snow. It was starting to cover the streets by the time I reached the church. I thought okay, maybe it will stop and not get too deep. I wanted to atleast stay until after Prayer, Share and Praise was over. I looked out the front door and it was snowing even more.

My head began to throb and I started getting dizzy. I took some pain reliever and a pill for motion sickness. Thought that would help, but decided to head home. The roads had become very slick. I did not want to drive on the stuff home, but I needed to get myself and the pick up home. I didn't get in a big hurry. I drove between 25-35 miles an hour most of the way. The pick up tried to slide a couple of times and I was almost hit by a car coming out of the road at Tiawah, a small town between Inola and Claremore. I began praying and singing God will take care of you and He did. I made it home safely.

I now have a blog on my yahoo page. I found out several things you can do on there now, like you can on Facebook. What I am about to post, I posted there. A brief history lesson on the Saint Patrick's Day celebration. The real Saint Patrick was a remarkable person. Born in England, at 16 years old he was kidnapped by Irish Raiders. After 6 years of slavery he escaped. But God called him to return to Ireland to preach the gospel, which he did with extraordinary courage and amazing results. Saint Patrick was also a Sabbatarian, which means he worshipped on Saturday the seventh day of the week. Unfortunately, his history has been obscured as Saint Patrick's Day has morphed into an excuse to drink green beer, pinch people, and wear "lucky" 4 leaf clovers, for luck. What does all of this and the traditions of Ireland have to do with a person from England? That is one question I cannot answer. I need to do some more research on it.

GOD Bless you all.
