Stormy December Wednesday
Wow, I am back. It has been awhile. I have really missed posting things on my blog. I thought I would write once in awhile from the library. That happened maybe a couple of times. It just wasn't convenient and I would forget to post. So I just quit.
The weather wasn't to bad this morning. It was about 55 degrees when my husband left for work. It was gloomy out but not cold, just a little windy. By the time afternoon got here the clouds came rolling in. We got rain and a little hail. About pea size hail, that didn't last very long. They are forcasting snow for tomorrow night and Friday. I could do without that. We will see. The bigger storm might miss us.
I have internet at home again, and I am trying to get caught up on my family history web pages and my blog posts. Hopefully I will be on once a week to add something to my blog. Prayer requests, points of interest, family history etc. We have dish internet. It is cheaper than having to use a phone line with is a charge for a local line and then the cost of the internet which for dsl was about the same price we will be pa. We were paying about $72.00 a month but we had to cut something out since I had quit my job and wasn't working. It really put a bind on things. We got a special rate for the first year and then it will go up $10.00 a month. No tax just a flat rate. My husband had been checking into it and told me to call and see how much it cost to get set up. I guess he was missing it more than he thought he would.
Here comes the rain again. It's coming down pretty hard. I hope it lets up before I have to go and get my youngest daughter from her friend's house. I sure hate driving in any kind of bad weather. I don't see very well at night or during stormy weather. I try not to have to drive much during those times.
I have two very important prayer requests. These are from my cousin in Tahlequah. Instead of me trying to remember it all and type it in, I am going to copy and past part of the email I received from her: "I do have a couple of prayer requests if you could please add them to the prayer chain/list at church. The first is: Uncle Bob Hinds is not doing well. He had an episode right after Thanksgiving and was hospitalized. He is home now but won't/can't get up and is eating very little. Hospice was called in when he left the hospital. Which was more for help than for the "impending end," but I really think it is probably headed for the end.
The second request is for our daughter Megan (22 years old). She had a stroke back in the middle of October. The main thing that was effected was her vision. On November 20th Megan went to have more testing done. They were suppose to do another echocardiogram with bubble theropy. When we got to the hospital the doctor had ordered a trans-cranial test with bubble theropy, and an ultra sound of her carotid arteries. We should have gotten results sometime the week after Thanksgiving. The doctor's office called back on Monday following the tests. Her arteries were normal but the trans-cranial test was abnormal and indicating a significant hole in her heart. We later found out that within seconds of the injection of the bubbles that thousands went straight to her brain.
Last Friday December 11, they took a scope down her throat to look at the back side of her heart. It showed where the wall of the septum did not close properly after she was born and has basically formed a large aneurysm that flaps back and forth. She also has ASD which is basically holes in the bottom portion of the septum. Atleast one hole that is about 2cm in size and several smaller holes. The doctor says it is just like swiss cheese or cheese cloth.
On December 16 we went for a follow up with the surgeon. He basically went over what we already knew and then gave us our options. Megan will be at Hillcrest in Tulsa at the Oklahoma Heart Hosiptal on the 29th of December. They will attempt to put patches on the PFO and ASD. There is a possibility that the patches won't be able to cover everything and/or that the tissue in her heart is not strong enough to hold the patches and/or the position of the holes in relation to the aneurysm will not allow the patches. If any one of those instances occur they will pull out and stop the procedure and then reschedule her for the more invasive surgery.
Meg's doctor stated that she will have to be on plavix and aspirin for 6 months and then just aspirin for the rest of her life, but she should be as good as new in about 6 months. We will not have the time of the procedure until the 28th of December and the procedure will take anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours, then she will have to stay in the hospital overnight. They will not actually open her up. They will go up through both groins (one with a camera and the other with the patches).
We continue to ask your prayers for Megan, that she comes through the surgery fine, all the repairs are able to be made and she heals quickly. We also ask prayer for the doctors that God be with them throughout the procedure and guide them to bring Megan back to good health."
Please remember these requests in your prayers and pass them along on your prayer chains and to your prayer warriors. We know God is all powerful and her family continues to praise Him for keeping Megan in the safety of His embrace, for placing her with excellent and fast acting physicians and for the love that He so obviously has for Megan.
It has been great being able to post again. Tune in from time to time to check out my latest posts.
