"NEW BLOG POSTING SITE!"

You might be wondering about the title for this week's blog. I tried to come up with something different and unique for a change. I am at my new blog posting site. The Inola Public Library. You might ask where Inola is! Good question. Inola is a little town in Oklahoma where I have lived for the past 29 years. If you know where Tulsa is then you know the area of Oklahoma. The Public Library is where I worked for 13 years. I began as a volunteer in January of 1995. In July of 2000 I became the Assistant Librarian and then in August of 2005 I became the Director. I retired in August of 2008.

My mom lived in Inola from the time she was 2 (1934) until she was 16 (1948). Her great grandpa John Henry Hinds came to Inola in 1905. He was a farmer. The Hinds's came from Indiana into Braggs, Indian Territory for the Oklahoma Land Run. They had their money in cattle. When they got to Braggs, the cattle ate something that made them sick and die. This was a great tragedy for the family. John Hinds was a Church of God member and kept the 7th Day Sabbath, which is Saturday. The land run began on Saturday, but he waited until Sunday to do the run and still was able to purchase land. I don't know why he moved on to Inola. Possibly because of the railroad. A couple or so of his sons worked for the railroad and another relative was a foreman on the railroad. His son-in-law, Sam Marlow, was a U.S. Marshall in 1910 and was living in Inola. John became a minister of the Church of God in 1924. He was the pastor of the little group that had formed in Inola. In 1941 the group purchased some land on C Street Northeast in Inola to build a small chapel. By 1948 most of the group had moved away. Some moving to Claremore and starting a church there. Elder Hinds passed away in July of 1948.

In 1952 my Grandpa Johnston, who was a minister in the Church of God, moved to Claremore from Willcox, Arizona, to become the pastor of the church in Claremore. Later in 1957 he moved to Inola and built his house on Commercial Street. Commerical is main street in Inola. The land was owned by Tobe Brunson a fellow church member. He continued to be the pastor of the church in Claremore until 1973. The group at Claremore didn't have a building to meet in. They rented different places until some time in 1948, when they purchased a lot at 512 East 10th Street. (The church is still there today.) Since the church group was gone from Inola and the Claremore group needed a building the Oklahoma Conference of the Church moved the building from Inola to Claremore on the purchased lot. This was done on Thanksgiving Day 1948. It solved a problem for both the building setting empty and the group needing a building. In 1953 the building was expanded in the front. By this time I had been born.

Now that my history lesson is over for the day, I will get back to the blog title. We have been telling everyone we were loosing the Internet at home. It finally happened. Now I have to come to the library to do my editing, check my email and Facebook. I was going to give everything up, but just couldn't quite do that. Plus I still have the church website to keep up. This is my new blog posting site and editing station for the church site. I try to come on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon's. That' the days the library is open late. The problem is I get to involved and loose track of time. Or just have to much to get to and don't get it all done. Last Thursday I hardly got anything done. Trying to get caught up today, but here it is already 4:37 p.m.

We have a new pastor at our Church. He started Saturday. Elder Ivan Burrell of Fairview, Oklahoma. I know I have mentioned him before. He is battling cancer and had been in remission, but they found more and he is taking radiation treatments at the Cancer Center of Tulsa. Please pray for him. He told us he had been considering becoming Claremore 's pastor for over three years. He felt God was calling him to come. He had been a minister, but had began farming and let his licenses expire. We had been without a pastor for about 2 years, and had been searching for one. Elder Burrell approached the local church board not the other way around. I have a good feeling about this myself. Elder Ivan has a big burden on his heart for the Claremore group. Not that we are so bad or anything. He wants bigger and better things for us as a group. He wants us to be more loving and known in the community.

I really need to head out of here. My dryer is not working, so I have to hang out my clothes to dry. It was a pretty warm day, but cloudy. I didn't think it would rain so I did three loads of laundry. My daughter and I were sitting here and looked out and it was raining. I am sure my clothes were almost dry. I started to bring them in before leaving the house, but didn't really have the time. I think it has stopped and hopefully it won't rain any more and the clothes will get dry. I also need to check my email. I needed to edit the church website, but couldn't get the pagebuilder to load.

Take care one and all and remember our church and pastor in your prayers. God Bless!
