WHERE DID THE WEEK GO?
Where has the week gone? It sure went by fast for me. It has been kind of a blah week. I really don't know why. I have been kind of down this week. Seems I am having more and more of those but I need to keep my chin and my eyes looking up. God is still in control. He knows what is best. I just have to keep putting the devil behind me and keep God before me.
Still nothing much to report on my business. If it would ever get off the ground, I would be happier. I have become an Internet Marketer. I have set up a virtual variety store on the Internet. Right now I am trying to sell some internet items. If things get going, I plan to have some antiques and coins for sale. Check out my store soon! "JamesGang In-Laws Variety Store" @ google sites
URL: http://sites.google.com/site/jamesganginlaws/ I am also going to have some old avon dolls with their original boxes and perfume in them for sale. They are probably at least 20 years old. I can't remember when I got them. Before or after I was married. If it was before, then they are over 30 years old. Antiques.
Speaking of the James Gang, they had a Family Picnic this past Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Greenleaf State Park between Braggs and Gore, Oklahoma on Highway 10. This year we were informed there had already been a couple of reunions back in June. Sarah James Fritts planned two reunions last year. Which proved to be too much for her. The James Reunion one weekend and the Fritts Reunion the next. That would be to much for just about anyone. Charlene and I decided to plan one for this year. We started planning back in July. When Charlene called Sarah to tell her about it, she said why are you having another one? Others became a little upset and said why are you having another reunion? I sure didn't know about another one, except for one that I wasn't told about or invited to. So we decided to call it the James Family Picnic. We had about 40 people sign the guest list. We almost didn't get to attend because of the gas prices. If they hadn't came down, we couldn't have. Heard some more interesting stories. Met a few new relatives from Ada, Oklahoma. Looked over some old information and found out some new stuff, I didn't know before. I have been working on the history once again. Trying to find where my husband's line of Jameses comes into Frank and Jesse Jameses, the Out-laws.
Other family members have conducted a lot of research over the years and never been able to find the connection to the out-laws. Some tried to say they weren't kin because no one could find the connection. My husband's grandpa Emery James, told him that he was a fourth cousin to the James brothers. He told my husband that either his dad Bill James or Grandpa Melton James played with Frank and Jesse, when they were boys in the Cookson Hills of Oklahoma. I think I will believe Grandpa Emery. In the past 3 years or so I have been looking into Frank and Jesse's genealogy and I think I might have found the connection. A cousin Melven James from OKC told me last year, he thought he had found the connection. We didn't really get to talk about it, but from what he did say, I think it is the same one. I just wish I could find the document-ation to proove it. Maybe some day someone will find it.
Had a death in the family this week. My first cousin on my dad's side of the family (Johnston's) Frankie lost her husband Ivan Harlan to cancer. His dad was a minister in the Church of God (Seventh Day), Elder Ivan Harlan. He died in Mexico in about 1968 at the Ministerial Council that was held there. Ivan (Cless) is the third one in his family to die of cancer. His oldest sister Laura Schlenker and one of his younger ones Bonnie Kilgore died of cancer before him. Who will be next? My mom is battling cancer for the second time. She is 6 weeks on Chemo and then 6 weeks off, because her insurance is getting tired of paying for it. We almost lost her back in 2005. We lost Rick' mom in April of 2005. Please pray for the family.
Time to bring this to a close. It is 11:43 p.m. Central Time. I need to get to bed. I have the grandkids here over night and they are going with me to church in the morning. October 25 is the Super Sabbath in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Many will be gone from our local group. The board didn't set up a speaker. We are to have a variety program.
Goodnight to all and God Bless.
