"HAPPY 4th OF JULY 2008"
Another 4th has come and gone. I don't get as excited about the 4th like I use to. Not because I am not patriotic. I thank God daily for this countries freedom. I pray for the soldiers fighting. I pray for the families who have lost a loved. I have relatives that were over in Iraq at one time. We lost a local boy in 2005, Travis Grigg. He had been over there about 2 weeks. The little town I live in, lost a soldier in the Viet Nam War, John Dudley Good. His brother lives across the street from me. Some times I feel people forget what the 4th is all about. I am sure most of the children think about fireworks. Adults about parties, drinking, having fun, and fireworks. The 4th has lost a lot of its meaning and has become so commericalized, just like Christmas. I am sure over half of the people don't care what it stands for.
Today was a beautiful Sabbath Day. Sunshine, after having a shower. I got up and asked my husband if it had rained? He didn't think so. I know I heard thunder and the rain coming down. Maybe I imagined it? But I have talked to a few others who said it had rained. I guess God felt we needed a little cooling off after being so hot yesterday. I didn't even stick my head out the door. I had planned to, but it didn't happen.
Believe it or not, this blog is going to be a short one. That is compared to others, I have posted. I am not so mouthy tonight. I bet that is a relief to most of you out there in blogger land. Oh well, as I have said many times before, this blog is for me. If you choose to read it that's great, but if your not interested, don't read it. It won't hurt my feelings none.
This is a political year. I am not big on politics or even know much about them. I vote, yes, and I pray God will put in power whomever He chooses, for what- ever reason. He wants what is best for us. Maybe not as we see it or in our time, but in His wisdom and His time. I thank God, I am not in His place. I am not so sure, we should serve in political postitions. But if everyone had that adtitude, who would be our leaders? I just glanced through this months Bible Advocate (our church magazine). I saw several articles on voting and politics. I want to go back and read all of them. Maybe they will shed some light on the subject for me.
Time for me to say goodbye. Can you believe that? Well you better, because that is what is happening. I told you I didn't have a lot to say this time. Next time I will probably bore you to tears.
God Bless all of you.
