"NICE SPRING SABBATH"
Hello one and all. This sure has been a nice Spring day. Not too hot and not too cold. I slept in. My daughter, Cortnie, woke me up about 12:30 p.m. I had been awake earlier and asked if she wanted to go to Class today at church. She didn't, so I laid back down and conked out. I had planned on going to the Worship Service. I guess I was just too tired.
I am feeling lots better, than I was there for a while. Things at the library have been better. I hope they continue to be that way. I am tired of all the drama. The board has decided to meet monthly for awhile. They have a lot to discuss and make decissions on. They usually only meet quarterly. The Library Board voted at their last meeting to change the ours on Thursdays. The library will be opened from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. Since we are no longer open on Saturday mornings, this will give the people, who work, time to get to the library two nights a week, before we close.
The High School Art Class is painting more ceiling tiles in the library. They have been doing this the past 3 years. The tiles look real nice. The pictures are painted to the theme of the Summer Reading Program. The theme this year is: "Catch the Reading Bug". The Art Class is painting a mural on the outside of the building. This was suppose to have been done last year. No one could ever decide who was going to pay for the paint. This year the library had enough money from our State-Aid Grant to buy the paint. School is almost out. The class doesn't have very many days left to get these projects done. The Art teacher, Mrs. Daily, is suppose to come on Sunday evening and sketch out the mural. This has to be done after dark. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings the class will come and paint. I have seen the overhead sketch. I believe it is going to look great. I understand the Library Board is going to put an American Flag and pole out front. A bench has been purchased by an Eagle Scout, Dillion Beaver, and is to be put on a concrete slab out in front of the building. When it is all finished, everyone that can, ought to come by and see what has been done.
The inside of the building is getting improvements. The Foundation Board has finally hired crews to remodel the back of the library building. We have a large area that wasn't included in the remodeling, when Win and Kay Ingersoll bought the building and had the work done. I understood that part of it was to be for a meeting room and the other part for the expansion of the library. Well, the plans were changed. It is going to be a nice space. It will be used as a meeting and reading room. For Adults Only! In one corner of the meeting part of the room, they are having a kitchenette put in. There will be a sink, small cabinet area and over head cabinets, plus a small refrigerator. The other end will be a reading room. Hopefully, I can put up shelving around the wall, to put some books in that area. We are loosing a section of shelving, because double doors are being put in to access the back part of the building. That takes up an area in the Adult Fiction section. I want to move the Reference items and the Adult Non-fiction to the back. This will give a small expansion for the Juvenile area and the Adult Fiction area. Keep your fingers crossed that I can add shelving to the back.
The Summer Reading Program will begin in June. It will be on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 4&5, 11&12, 18&19, 25&26, 2008. This year the child-ren have to register to attend. Pre-registera-tion will be May 27-30 at the library, during regular library hours. We are only going to be dealing with 20 kids a session. The children have to have finished K-5 through 4th grades. We cannot have anyone under the age of 5, because of the program on the second day from the Tulsa Zoo. Plus, we are not sure if the back will be finished in time for us to use it for crafts. We may have to have games and send the craft projects home with the kids. Hopefully we will know by the end of next week.
Now that I am done with my complaining and recapping of what is going on at the library, I will shut up and get off of here. This is really helping me, even if it's not that interesting to everyone else. That is what this was for. ME! TaTa for now.
