Memorial Day Observence
Happy Memorial Day to all of you out there in blogger land. Hope your weekend has been as good as mine. It has been a very busy weekend, but quite enjoyable.
My grandson, Randy, plays Coach Pitch Baseball. This is his first year. He turned 8 on May 16. He had a ball game on his birthday, so they didn't have a party for him until this last Saturday night. He had wanted to go to Incredible Pizza for the party, but things didn't work out. They ordered pizza for at home and had a cake and some family over. He got a Guitar Hero, which he wanted. I had given him a small present on his birthday, at the ball game. Just a small toy for him to enjoy. This past week, I forgot all about the party on Saturday night, so I didn't get something else, like I had planned. Maybe I can do that later. Although I did give him a 60 minute card for a TracFone. I guess that could be considered a present from me, Nanna, Pa Pa, and Aunt Cortnie. (That's what I told his mom, Danielle. Danielle is my oldest child and oldest daughter. She will be 30 in September. I don't think she is real thrilled about turning 30, though. She ought to thank God for another year of life. That's the way I look at it.)
Actually my weekend started on Friday. Randy had a double hitter ball game in Claremore. I attended that and picked up my youngest daughter, Cortnie, from graduation. Inola had graduation at the Expo Center in Claremore, again this year. I wish they would have it back at the school. I think it is better. There sure were a lot of people there. I think more than there were last year, when I attended.
On Saturday, Cortnie and I got up and went to church. It was sure nice to see everyone. A few were gone and our crowd was kind of small, but we did have a good service. Brother Lawrence Eddy (a local board member, acutally president of the local board) from Tiawah brought us a brief talk, that I enjoyed. I thought he did a great job. Then on Saturday night, we went down to Danielle and Earl's for Randy's Birthday Party. (they live about 8 house up from us on the same street.) We had a nice visit. Cortnie stayed later than me and my husband did. They were trying to figure out what happened with the Guitar Hero. It wouldn't work right. Danielle had to take it back on Sunday and get a new one. She says the new one is working fine.
Sunday we had a cookout at Rick's dad's house. Most of the kids were there. Only two were missing, the oldest and the youngest. Rick is the oldest boy and the next to the oldest child. He has six siblings. There are 3 girls and 4 boys. Every other one is a girl, until the last one. The last should have been a girl to keep the pattern going, but it was a boy. We had a nice visit. His dad is looking good. John (Rick's next to the youngest brother, lives with his dad. Rick's mom died back in 2005.) has started back to work, which will help out alot. With him loosing his left arm, there is a lot he cannot do in the roofing trade, but he bids the jobs for a friend of his. I am sure it makes him feel better, than sitting at home. Rick's dad needs to find him a hobby. He is retired from the roofing trade. He really gets bored sitting around the house.
Today, Rick and I went to Claremore, without the kids. (As most of you know, we have big kids, that can be left alone, 25 and 16.) We got away a few hours by ourselves. We ran in to some friends, while we were in Wal-Mart, John McAlexander and Heidi Khalil and her kids. Heidi and her husband Ash live out in the country from Inola. John and his wife Anita live in Claremore and attend our church in Tulsa. Anita has been my friend since I was 16. She is five years older than me. So I guess our friendship would be about 39 years old. A long time. I sang at her and John's wedding in 1971. She served at my reception when I got married in 1977. Then my daughters, Danielle and Cortnie were in her daughter's, Janine, wedding.
I really wanted to write more, but I don't know exactly what I want to add. I am going to go down to Danielle's house with Cortnie in a few minutes. So it is time for me to bring this to a close. I just might get back on here tomorrow with another entry. Or then I might not.
Thanks for listening
