Hinds Get Together at Locust Grove
Hello, fellow blogger's. This is Starlight once more. Hope everyone had a nice week-end. I know I did. We had a nice Lord Supper Service on Friday night April 18, 2008 at the church. Then on Sabbath we had a nice follow-up message on the Lord Supper during the worship hour on April 19, 2008. The message was brought by a local member, Brother Eric Townsley. Both services seemed to fit together. As Eric said on Sabbath it was a very nice Lord Supper Service this year. To me it felt like God was with us.
Today on Sunday April 20, 2008 it was the Hinds get together at Locust Grove. This started a few years ago. It's like a mini reunion. The Hinds relatives in this area get together and have lunch at the Country Cottage in Locust Grove. A very nice place to eat. It is a busy place on Sundays. Lots of people have family get togethers there. In the room where the Hinds's had tables reserved, another group was having a birthday party for an older gentleman. We had one of our smaller groups today. I hadn't been in a while. It sure was nice to see the relatives from Tahlequah.
I need to start putting a little family and church history on here. As most of you know, my husband, Rick, is one of the ancestors of the outlaws Frank and Jesse James. The family members who have been doing research on this line, hasn't been able to figure out just where Rick's line comes in. I think I have found it, but I don't have enough proof. A cousin in OKC thinks he has found it also. So maybe I am right. If I am, me and my husband could be distant kin. Of course all of us are kin through Adam and Eve. One of the James's married a Mary Hines. That is one of the spellings. Our line of Hinds spells it H-i-n-d-s. Which I was told, is the English spelling.
Then a great uncle of mine Fate Hinds married a James. And his brother Frank married a cousin of Fate's wife, with the last name of James. This was Fate's second wife. They lived at Braggs, Oklahoma. At a James Reunion one year, I was talking to Rick's Uncle Eules Reeves. He grew up in Braggs. I said some-thing about my Uncle Fate living there. He asked me who I was talking about. He said he knew Fate Hinds. Also for many years, people who were doing the Hinds research couldn't find who Great-Grandpa J. H. Hinds's dad and mom were. Come to find out they lived and are buried at Braggs. William Hinds and Mary Boffman Hinds. A cousin the family didn't know about grew up around them and several years ago, she was doing family research and noticed cousin Bob Hinds's name at Tahlequah. So she called him up. Her great-grandma Mollie Hinds was a sister to Great-Grandpa John. We found out about relatives that had lived there many years, yet the family didn't keep in touch.
I guess this is enough for today. I am sure I am probably the only one really interested in this. It's mostly a place to put my thoughts down. Repeating myself as usual. I said most of this in one of my first bloggs.
Everyone have a great day. I will probably talk to you again tomorrow.
